WHITE PAPER:

Chroma is the debut album by American rock band Cartel. It was originally released September 20, 2005. In its first week of release, it sold over 3,000 copies, becoming The Militia Group’s most successful artist release. The single “Honestly” launched the album to the charts including the number one debut on Soundscan’s Alternative New Artist Charts. The album also made it to the top 20 in over 50 independent record store’s sales charts. The album’s second single was “Say Anything (Else)”.

The band re-released this album on June 13, 2006 under Epic Records. The album has sold over 250,000 copies since its release. On February 2, 2015, Cartel announced that a Chroma 10th Year Anniversary vinyl would be available for pre-order, as well as Chroma tour. The vinyl was limited to 1,000 copies.

Cartel asked us to re-work the original compact-disc layout into a unique vinyl package that was worthy of the 10 year anniversary. Having familiarity with the band, and the layout, due to teaming up on the original 2005 release, we picked up on a concept we were forced to leave out of the original layout: the die-cut sleeve. The band and title logos were re-worked as a stencil, and the entire layout was revisited to leave a package that the band could truly call the best visual representation of their most critically acclaimed work.
